Even though the day brought some rain, it didn’t dampen the celebrations for Rachel and Arthur’s summer wedding at Briarcliff Manor in the Hudson River Valley. This lovely couple made sure their wedding day was full of fun details that represented their personalities and interests. They enjoyed spending their special day with family and friends!
Rachel and Arthur met for their first date in the Fall of 2019 at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Brooklyn called Gueros. Rachel is a Texan, and it’s the only place in the NYC area with good queso. The first date also happened to land on Black Friday when Rachel had literally just flown back to New York from Texas. About two years after dating, Arthur secretly planned to pop the question. He started by reaching out to Rachel’s friends to get an idea of what kind of ring she would like. He asked her best friend to help him find her ring size. Arthur made a reservation at a small French restaurant with outdoor seating, telling Rachel this was just a date night. The ring was ready at the beginning of October, but the proposal would be another month.
Arthur wanted to propose in November so they could get engaged and then travel to Texas to visit Rachel’s family for Thanksgiving and her birthday. In addition to the dinner, Arthur got in contact with all of their friends. With the help of his brother and two of Rachel’s friends, he set up a surprise party in their apartment. Arthur spent the month of October buying decorations and assigning tasks to friends to set up the apartment while they were on their “date”. The month proved difficult for Arthur because Rachel, not knowing that this was going to be a proposal, kept trying to change plans for that night. On November 6th, the day of the proposal, they left the apartment at 5 PM for dinner at Chez Moi.
While they were gone, the friends piled into the apartment and set up for the party. Simultaneously, Rachel’s friend who was also a photographer, stalked them during the dinner so she could set up for proposal photos. After dinner, they walked up the street and around the corner to a little shop that was decorated with holiday lights. Arthur proposed in this spot, which led to Rachel saying “Wait, What?!” multiple times before finally saying “yes”! They walked back to the apartment where she was surprised again with all their friends! Rachel brought Arthur back home to Texas for Thanksgiving with her wearing her new ring!
Arthur and Rachel chose a full wedding planning package from us! We started planning their wedding from December 2021 until their actual wedding day. Our team asked them about their most important elements of the wedding day. They wanted to make sure that guests had a great experience, the quality of the food, and good music! They had a Jewish wedding under a beautiful chuppah! A live string quartet was booked for the ceremony music. To add to the busy schedule of the day, rain missed their ceremony by only 30 SECONDS! It actually stated to drizzle again as they were walking back up the aisle. One of Arthur and Rachel’s hobbies is watching TV and movies. We decorated their reception tables not with numbers, but with their favorite movies or TV shows. Additionally, during the reception, Arthur brought some of his home-brew beer for the guests to enjoy!
