There are weddings where you can feel, from the very first conversation, that the couple just gets it. Naomi and Binh were exactly that. They knew what they wanted — and more importantly, what they didn’t want — and the result was a day that felt effortlessly refined, personal, and genuinely fun.
Our team had the honor of planning and coordinating their fall celebration at the Prospect Park Boathouse in Brooklyn on November 7, 2025, and it’s a wedding we’re still thinking about. ✨
The Couple
Naomi and Binh got engaged in Switzerland — which is maybe the most romantic proposal story we’ve heard. Naomi was there for a research conference, and Binh surprised her. That’s the kind of intentionality that set the tone for everything that followed.
Back home in Jersey City, the two are the type of couple who’d rather spend a Friday night cooking a good meal and hanging out with their dog, Murray, than anything else. And that warmth — that groundedness — showed up everywhere on their wedding day, from the intimate guest list to the details they chose (including a very adorable Murray-shaped cake topper, obviously 🐾).
Their style? Classic and modern, with a minimal, eclectic edge. No fuss, no gimmicks, just a really beautiful day surrounded by the people they love.
Getting Ready at Ace Hotel Brooklyn
Naomi started her morning at the Ace Hotel Brooklyn with her mom, her sister, and a close friend, all in the hands of the incredibly talented Sachiko Hair & Make (@sachikohairmake). The getting-ready energy at a boutique hotel is something we always love for a Brooklyn wedding — it keeps things calm, beautiful, and close to the action without the chaos of trying to glam up at the venue.
The Prospect Park Boathouse: A Venue Worth Knowing About
If you’re planning a wedding in Brooklyn and haven’t toured the Prospect Park Boathouse, put it at the very top of your list. Tucked inside Prospect Park at the edge of the park’s iconic lake, the Boathouse is one of Brooklyn’s most stunning event spaces — historic, romantic, and architecturally beautiful in a way that genuinely can’t be replicated.
The venue is home to Purslane, an in-house catering team whose food is as gorgeous as the space itself. On Naomi and Binh’s day, guests were treated to a full family-style dinner — and if you know anything about family-style service at a wedding, you know it immediately changes the energy of the room. It’s communal, warm, and abundant. Exactly how a celebration should feel.
From a planning perspective, the Boathouse is a dream to work in. The flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception is seamless, the natural setting provides stunning portrait opportunities, and the venue team is genuinely wonderful to partner with.
The Ceremony
Guests arrived at 3:00 PM to passed sparkling wine and water, with a live pianist setting the mood as the ceremony space filled with people dressed in cocktail attire.
The ceremony itself was officiated by Quan Tran — better known as Emcee Bom — who is one of those rare people who can hold a room with warmth and humor and make everyone feel like they’re in exactly the right place. (He also served as MC for the reception, which made for wonderful continuity throughout the evening.)
The florals, designed by Kinda Formal (@kindaformal), leaned into lush greens and whites — a classic, season-appropriate palette that felt elegant against the Boathouse’s warm wood and stone interiors. Pedestal arrangements anchored the ceremony space before being moved into the reception room by the floral team — a seamless transition that’s one of our favorite coordination details to pull off.
Cocktail Hour (With a Magician — Yes, Really)
Post-ceremony, guests spilled into cocktail hour for an hour of passed hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and… live magic. Naomi and Binh hired Magical Matt NYC (@magicalmattnyc), and we’re not exaggerating when we say it was one of the best cocktail hour entertainment decisions we’ve ever seen. Guests were absolutely delighted. It gave everyone something to talk about, broke the ice between families meeting for the first time, and kept the energy light and social in the best possible way.
If you’re searching for something different to do during your cocktail hour, take note: a close-up magician is an unexpected move that lands every single time.
The Reception
Naomi and Binh’s grand entrance kicked off the reception at 5:15 PM to an already buzzing room. Their first dance — “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish — was one of those song choices that perfectly captures a couple. Romantic, modern, a little unexpected, and completely them. Immediately following, the father/daughter and mother/son dances happened simultaneously, filling the dance floor with emotion before the evening had even really begun.
DJ Marcus Ho (@marcushodj) kept the energy going all night, and MC Bom kept things moving with exactly the right balance of heartfelt moments and pure fun.
Dinner from Purslane was served family style — a choice Naomi and Binh made deliberately, and one that completely transformed how the tables interacted throughout the meal. Toasts followed from Binh’s sister, a close friend of the bride, and one for the groom — each of them thoughtful and genuinely funny.
The cake, a beautiful creation from Win Son Bakery (@winsonbakery), featured the now-iconic Murray dog topper. We love a couple who works their pets into the day in whatever way they can. 🐶
At 8 PM, late night pizza arrived. The dance floor was full. It was exactly the kind of reception you hope for.
A Few Details We’re Still Thinking About
This was a wedding full of intentionality and restraint in the best sense. No bouquet toss. No sparkler exit. No slideshow. Just a really tight, well-curated day where every element had a reason to be there. The escort cards were displayed in playing card holders. There was a decorative birdcage for the card box. The bathrooms were styled with candles and amenity trays. Every corner of the Boathouse felt considered.
That’s the kind of wedding that photographs beautifully, flows effortlessly, and leaves guests talking about it for years.
Naomi and Binh — we are so glad we got to be part of your day. 🤍
